Norwegian Transport Ministry

Norwegian Transport Ministry

Copenhagenize Design Co. and our Norwegian partners, Civitas, produced a feasibility study for the Norwegian Transport Ministry in 2012. The report was commissioned by the Ministry to gain an alternate perspective from that provided by the Road Directorate. It involved documenting and demonstrating how big reductions in greenhouse gas emissions can be achieved by a transition from private cars to cycling and walking.

Copenhagenize Design Co.’s role involved sharing expertise and information on Danish and Swedish cities and contributing to the overall discussion of what causes people to use bicycles. We used our Copenhagenize Index tool to rate and compare Norwegian, Danish and Swedish cities for bicycle friendliness. Norway is struggling to raise cycling levels in its cities and this report is aimed at inspiring the ministry about the potential of increasing cycling levels.
