Desire Line Analysis on Værnedamsvej - Copenhagen
Copenhagenize Design Co. utilised our Desire Line analysis tool to study the behaviour and trajectories of bicycle users crossing a major Copenhagen intersection, Værnedamsvej. The street is a lively, neighbourhood one, and a link between two main streets, Gammel Kongevej and Vesterbrogade, which are both two-way streets with cycle tracks.
Based on the analysis of these “Desire lines”, we studied the street and its intersections and then proposed changes to create urban spaces tailored for humans. These Copenhagenize fixes proposed solutions to make the street ‘life-sized,’ and to fix the asymmetric and complicated intersections at either end. They showcase the effectiveness of our Desire Lines tool in providing solutions based on the needs of users.
