Desire Lines in Amsterdam

Desire Line Analysis of 9 Amsterdam Intersections

Copenhagenize Design Company took our Desire Line Analysis Tool to Amsterdam where we, in close collaboration with the University of Amsterdam, analysed the desire lines and behaviour at nine intersections in the city, with The City of Amsterdam as client.

A continuation of our documentation of our work in Copenhagen, we mapped the trajectories that cyclists used across the intersections and gathered valuable data about usage and behaviour. We wished to see how the bicycle users were reacting to the design of the infrastructure and whether or not improvements could be made. We were also keen to compare with cyclists in Copenhagen and their reaction to their infrastructure.

Copenhagenize Design Company is developing similar studies for other cities.
