Cycle Chic Blog & The Cycle Chic Republic
2006 - present
Cycle Chic saw the light of day back in June 2007 when Copenhagenize founder Mikael Colville-Andersen decided to put a growing number of his photos about Copenhagen's bicycle culture together on one digital space. The feedback about these photos was overwhelming and there was clearly a growing interest abroad in seeing how the bicycle was an integral part of life in the Danish capital.
The blog has taken on a streetstyle form as it grew in popularity and spawned numerous Cycle Chic blogs in other cities around the world, with readership including people interested in fashion as well as bicycles and bicycle culture.
Cycle Chic aims to take back the bike culture by showing how the bicycle once again can be an integral, respectable and feasible transport form, free of sports clothes and gear, and how it can play a vital role in increasing the life quality in cities. A network of Cycle Chic bloggers - The Cycle Chic Republic - meets annually at a conference to discuss advocacy, the sociological aspects of the brand and to plan future endeavours.
