Copenhagenize Design Company applied its Desire Lines Analysis Tool to an area in Islands Brygge, Copenhagen, close to Bryggebroen, a bicycle bridge. Here, we compared and contrasted observed behaviour of over 1,700 bicycle users with officially designated routes. We discovered no less than 14 different routes that bicycle users used to pass through the space, noticing that bicycle users often avoided the space ‘designed’ for them by the property owners. Based on our findings, we proposed several design solutions to make the area more bike and pedestrian-friendly.
