Design Associate (Montreal)
Copenhagenize Design Co. is looking for a creative, passionate and enthusiastic urbanist with a flair for visual design to join the team in our small, yet growing North American office in Montreal, Canada.
We’re seeking a candidate who thinks visually, wants to help solve urban transportation issues and is up to the task of inspiring citizens with compelling graphic content in our cities. You have an eye for detail and symmetry, you understand attractive fonts, colour palettes and layout, and you enjoy working collaboratively. The right candidate doesn’t have to love bicycles (it helps though) but believes in the bicycle as a tool for building better cities and is inclined to use a bicycle in their daily life. More importantly you can identify with the following:
You have an interest in urbanism, anthropology and society simply because you can't help yourself.
You have spent at least some time in Denmark or the Netherlands and GET best-practice bicycle urbanism.
You can switch between working independently and as a part of a small, growing and international team.
You have an academic background in urban planning, architecture, design or geography.
You have a strong eye for visual communication, and can explain innovative urban and transportation ideas to the 99%.
You understand how to communicate to the public of today through graphic communications and social media outreach.
You speak English fluently – it's the working language at Copenhagenize.
You love Montreal and all its parks, restaurants and festivals.
2+ years of experience producing high-quality graphic content
Professional experience with the Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
A degree in design, urban planning, architecture or geography
Fluency in English (ideally French too)
Ability to work legally in Canada
Developing graphic content for communications and marketing campaigns
Contributing to new wayfinding, signage, logo and other design projects
Producing physical and digital documents that visually showcase urban cycling to the 99% in a compelling way
Expanding playful social media content and outreach
Collaborating on insightful maps of bicycle planning analyses
One year full-time contract starting in late 2019
