As part of the celebration of Sustainable Mobility Week 2018, the City Council of Valencia invited Mikael Colville-Andersen and the team from Copenhagenize’s Barcelona office to visit the city and its recently implemented bicycle infrastructure.
During the visit, Mikael gave a public keynote on bicycle urbanism, and the Copenhagenize team led a workshop on best-practice bicycle infrastructure for the municipal engineers who are currently working on the design and construction of Valencia's bike network. The trip also included a meeting with Valencia’s mayor, Joan Ribó, and interviews with national and local media.
These activities formed part of a package of advisory and educational services that Copenhagenize Design Co. completed for the City of Valencia. As part of this package, we held a workshop on cyclelogistics in Valencia in February for various mobility agents in the city, and in May we conducted a masterclass in Copenhagen for a delegation of municipal technicians from the mobility department of Valencia.
Of course, there is still a lot of work to be done, but it is always a pleasure to work with clients who have a clear and ambitious vision like Valencia, which has already declared its intention to become “the Mediterranean capital of the bike”.
