Copenhagenize Design Co. is pleased to announce that our Barcelona office has moved its operations centre to Barcelona’s new BikeHub building!
In Barcelona, a number of local private and public partners recently joined forces to create BiciHub, a new participatory incubator and workspace dedicated to fostering sustainable mobility and the social economy — via the bicycle. BiciHub proposes a model of community management that accommodates all entities, groups, and people of Barcelona who believe in the bicycle as a tool for transformation.
Since mid-2018, our Barcelona team collaborated on the development and implementation of the BikeHub, working as part of the group of stakeholders responsible for outlining the operations and governance of the space.
The building that now hosts the new BikeHub is the old Can Picó factory located in Barcelona’s Poblenou neighbourhood. The City of Barcelona helped rehabilitate the building as part of its broader social program, called Taula Eix Pere IV, which is aimed at recovering the city’s industrial heritage.
BiciHub de Barcelona will be the first centre of its kind in Catalonia and Spain that specializes in promoting the bicycle as a tool to advance sustainable mobility in the city, through a cooperative model involving the local community. All in all, the office of Copenhagenize Barcelona could not be located in a more ideal place to continue working on the transformation of our city into a more human and sustainable model!
