In the context of the City of Antwerp’s plan to overdeck an outdated ring motorway that had long served as a barrier within the urban fabric, Copenhagenize Design Co. worked with Omgeving, De Urbanisten, and COBE architects to create an innovative vision for Antwerp’s West Bank. To ensure a connected bicycle network across the River Scheldt, we conducted an analysis of efficient possibilities for connecting the two banks to ensure that the bicycle would play a primary role as a legitimate mode of transportation in the area. This project involved a more thorough analysis of the possibility of a bicycle bridge to cross the former ring road and connect the West Bank to the city-centre.
