Project Summary

The Copenhagenize Index, published every two years, reveals the top 20 most bicycle-friendly cities in the world. This is the most comprehensive and holistic ranking that exists, evaluating cities based on 14 criteria ranging from cycling infrastructure, to the ambition of the city and local actors involved in the cycling ecosystem. Over a hundred cities spread across all regions of the world, are evaluated according to the same criteria every two years.

Creating an inventory of urban cycling in all corners of the world is no small feat. This index is made possible through months of intensive teamwork, research and outreach by the Copenhagenize team at every step of the project.

The 2019 ranking was the most ambitious in terms of communication: creation of an index website, use of testimonials, and a launch event in Dublin broadcasted live on our social networks. Results are published here: www.copenhagenizeindex.eu.
