Communication & Wayfinding

Project Summary

As part of their communications project on alternatives to car mobility, Copenhagenize was hired by the Pays Barval, governing body uniting 17 municipalities of the Arcachon Bay Area, to advise them on a wayfinding strategy for pedestrians and cyclists. In response to considerable tourism, particularly in the summer, the existing bicycle infrastructure and services have been primarily designed for tourists, making them less visible to local inhabitants. The team completed a diagnosis of the qualities and gaps of existing signage for pedestrians (including public transportation users) and cyclists, as well as signage providing information for tourists and local inhabitants. Based on this diagnosis, Copenhagenize will develop a wayfinding strategy, which will aim to make more sustainable mobility options not only visible to tourists, but also to local inhabitants for their daily trips.
